Emergency Message for U.S. Citizens: Public Services at Lahore Remain Suspended

This emergency message informs U.S. citizens that, in continuation of the policies detailed in our message dated August 19, public and consular services remain unavailable at U.S. Consulate General Lahore.  U.S. citizens enrolled in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP – see below for more information on enrollment) will receive email notification when services will again be available; an announcement will also be made on the U.S. Consulate General Lahore website at http://lahore.usconsulate.gov/.

Routine consular services are available at the U.S. Embassy in Islamabad or the U.S. Consulate General in Karachi. You may make an appointment with the Consular Section in Islamabad through the following link:

U.S. citizens requiring emergency services should contact the U.S. Embassy in Islamabad at telephone (92-51) 208-0000. Note that our ability to provide emergency services outside Islamabad could be limited by travel restrictions and security conditions.

Updated Information on Travel and Security

Updated information on travel and security in Pakistan may be obtained from the Department of State by calling 1-888-407-4747 toll-free in the United States and Canada or, for callers outside the United States and Canada, on a regular toll line at 1-202-501-4444. These numbers are available from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Eastern Time, Monday through Friday (except U.S. federal holidays).  For further information, please consult the Travel Warning for Pakistan and the Country Specific Information for Pakistan, as well as the Worldwide Caution. U.S. citizens traveling to or living in Pakistan are encouraged to enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) – click here.  If you enroll, we can keep you up to date with important safety and security announcements and can also help your family and friends get in touch with you in an emergency.  U.S. citizens without Internet access can enroll directly with the nearest U.S. Embassy or Consulate.
