Lahore – The U.S. Consulate today re-opened its Information Resource Center (IRC) to members, providing them with a walk-in facility to use its research and reference services.
“The IRC, which is a combined paper and electronic reference library, will provide access to a wealth of resources on U.S. political, economic, business, legal, legislative and social affairs,” said Principal Officer of the U.S. Consulate Bryan Hunt at the inaugural ceremony.
Provincial Minister for Education Mian Imran Masud felicitated the Consulate on the occasion and hoped “members would utilize the facility for their research and reference needs.”
The IRC also offers free access to specialized online databases such as CIAONet (Columbia International Affairs Online), EbscoHost, Factiva Lexis/Nexis, and Proquest Direct, which in turn provide access to approximately 10,000 research journals and 7,000 news resources in the fields of politics, economics and law.
No fee is required for IRC membership, which can be obtained by filling out the membership form and returning it to the U.S. Consulate. The visiting hours are from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding Pakistani and American Holidays.
