Warden Notice 19/2009

This Warden Notice is to notify American citizens that on the evening of June 9 gunmen stormed the Pearl Continental Hotel in Peshawar and detonated a bomb, resulting in the death of several individuals and injuring scores of others.  U.S. Consulate personnel in Peshawar have been instructed to limit their movements until further notice.  The U.S. Consulate in Peshawar is open today and is providing emergency consular services only.

Please contact the U.S. Embassy or U.S. Consulate Peshawar at the telephone numbers below if you have information relating to an American who is missing or requires medical assistance.  Americans in Peshawar, regardless of whether or not they were in the vicinity of the Pearl Continental Hotel at the time of the blast, are also encouraged to contact family in the United States to let them know of their welfare and whereabouts.

The Embassy reiterates its advice to all Americans to take appropriate individual precautions to ensure their safety and security at all times.  These measures include maintaining good situational awareness, avoiding crowds and demonstrations and keeping a low profile.  Americans should avoid setting patterns by varying times and routes for all required travel.  Americans should ensure that their travel documents and visas are valid at all times.
